This American soldier was informed by his sergeant while serving in the army abroad in Germany 55 years ago that he should purchase a watch before coming home. His sergeant suggested him get a Rolex since it was a fantastic watch, so he bought a GMT Master Model Rolex and preserved the box and receipt.

When he acquired the watch in 1960, it cost him a month’s pay ($120). He took it to the Antique Roadshow in Tucson to see what it was worth now, and Peter Planes assessed it. The guy finds out that not only is the Rolex he bought rare, but its value has also doubled because he kept the original sales receipt and the box.
Needless to say, the guy is struck speechless when he learns how much his watch is worth.
