Roy and Bernita Rogers of Kansas City, Missouri, have always dreamed of having a large family but had trouble having their own. Bernita got pregnant three times, but each time the baby was delivered early and lost. Although the heartbreak of losing a child was intense, the Rogers never gave up hope that the void in their lives would be filled one day.

Bernita begged for a miracle because she really wanted a baby to cherish and hold in her hands. She had no idea she’d gotten it until she met this stray cat. It wasn’t the kid she had hoped for, but the friendly black cat she called Midnight, who happily lapped up all of Bernita’s love. So, this story is a great illustration that black cats don’t bring bad luck. In this case, he even brought good luck for this family because Bernita became pregnant again within a year.

A healthy baby girl was born. She was named Stacey. Bernita said, “I feel Stacey’s birth was a gift.” “I’m not sure I can express how long we waited and how wonderful it made her,” she continued. Of course, having had big losses, Roy and Bernita Rogers were exceedingly cautious about their new daughter, utilizing a baby monitor at all times. That habit, along with their hero cat, who appeared to defend Stacey, would save their daughter’s life.

Bernita claimed about Midnight: “He was continuously staring at her.” “I’m always in the same room with her.” Midnight’s vigilance would be particularly vital when Stacy became unwell at the age of six weeks. Bernita was informed that Stacey had a fever and not to worry after bringing her to the physician. So she brought Stacey home, laid her down for a nap that afternoon, switched on the baby monitor, and went downstairs to meet her parents, who were visiting.

Midnight burst into the room moments later. “He came in, leaped on my lap, stepped back, then jumped back in,” Bernita remembered. “He was rather insistent.”He plainly wanted me to do something, but I wasn’t eager,” Bernita said, adding that she originally dismissed him.

Midnight raced upstairs, unfazed. Within seconds, a horrifying screech was heard on the baby monitor. It was after midnight, yet the cacophony was unlike anything Bernita had ever heard. Bernita described the cat’s yowling as “this shriek, howl, scream, cry.” “I leapt out of the chair and fled upstairs because it was ter.r.ifying.”

Bernita walked into Stacey’s room and saw Midnight wailing and hissing straight into the baby monitor while “kind of reaching out over the bassinet,” leading the mother to peek at her infant. Stacey was struggling for oxygen and becoming blue, much to her alarm. Bernita grabbed her daughter, fled the home, and hurried Stacey to the doctor, where she collapsed from respiratory distress. Stacey may not have made it if Bernita had delayed much longer.

Stacey arrived at the hospital just in time for physicians to save her life, thanks to Midnight. According to Honest To Paws, twelve years after the experience, a beautiful and healthy Stacey was thankful not only to be alive but also to have one of the best pals a girl could wish for. “Midnight is a fantastic buddy, and I adore him because he’s always been there for me,” Stacey said.

“He truly saved our baby,” Bernita said, recognizing Midnight’s insistence had resulted in Stacey’s rescue. “We’ll never be able to repay him.” But, be assured, Midnight was rewarded for his bravery when the young girl he rescued became his closest friend. Midnight, like her parents, got to appreciate Stacey and see her develop as a result of his commitment to be her defender.
Midnight demonstrated that not all black cats are bad luck by bringing his family good luck in more ways than one. Roy and Bernita Rogers’ wishes for a miracle were realized when a stray cat entered their lives. When their 6-week-old baby passed away in her cradle, the cat they had rescued saved them from the sorrow of loss they had experienced many times before. We’re reminded once again that some heroes are covered in fur and walk on all fours.
