There was a time when an undercover Queen Elizabeth played a great joke on visitors from the United States

This royal “punking” outdid Ashton Kutcher.

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing at the age of 96 on Thursday, her friends and fans flocked to recall her many legendary moments. One of the most amusing stories told by her bodyguard during the Queen’s Jubilee was about how the quick-witted queen tricked two US visitors who didn’t identify her at her own residence.

Queen Elizabeth II walked past two hikers coming towards us and the queen would always stop and say hello, “former Protection Officer Richard Griffin told SKY News in an unearthed film about the amusing incident while strolling Queen Elizabeth outside Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Cue the theme tune from “Undercover Boss”! Tourists imagined the queen was simply another guest since she was wearing a headscarf and a tweed jacket at the time.

“It was two Americans on a walking vacation, and it was obvious they hadn’t recognized her, which was OK,” Griffin recalled at the Platinum Jubilee in June. “When the American guy questioned whether she lived in the neighborhood, she said that she did have a home nearby.”

Elizabeth answered in a sneaky way that she lived in London but also had a home just over the hill. This made the bodyguard laugh, so he went on.

According to Griffin, the naive visitor then asked the incognito queen how long she had been coming here, to which she replied that she had been visiting the region for roughly 80 years.

Despite the fact that this clever hint set the “cogs” in motion, Griffin claims that the naïve tourist still didn’t identify his famous friend.

“He answered, ‘Well, you must have met the queen if you’ve been coming here for 80 years.'” The security detail remembers the embarrassing event.

One of Queen Elizabeth’s old bodyguards told a story about an amazing joke he played on two stupid US tourists.

“It was two Americans on a walking vacation, and it was evident they hadn’t recognized her, which was good,” said security officer Richard Griffin. “When the American guy questioned whether she lived in the neighborhood, she said that she did have a home nearby.”

That’s when the rapier-wielding royal delivered the punk queen.

As fast as a flash, she answered, “Well, I haven’t, but Dick here sees her on a daily basis,” Griffin recounted lovingly of the epic deception. “So the man asked me how I felt about her.”

“And since I was with her for so long, I could pull her leg, so I said she may be really cantankerous at times, but she’s got a beautiful sense of humor,” he said.

At that time, the visitor, still not seeing the connection, wrapped his arm around Griffin’s shoulder and handed Elizabeth his camera so she could photograph them. Then they had the two of them switch places so he could take a picture with what he probably thought was a random 80-year-old, maybe to be polite.

Even still, the “undercover boss” would not show her hand.

“In any case, we switched positions. I photographed them with the queen. “We never said anything and just waved goodbye,” Griffin recounted. “Then Her Majesty told me she’d want to be a fly on the wall when he exhibits these images to his American friends, and maybe someone will inform him who I am.”

Needless to say, Elizabeth’s ability to think on her feet wowed social media.

“Fantastic!” One star-struck Twitter user said, “She’s a wonderful person with a good sense of humor.”

“Invaluable story. Another fan added, “I’ve read many times that she has an impish sense of humor when she’s “off duty,” but this one is a gem.”

“Can you all just call it done after Elizabeth II?” One fan commented, “Leave on a high note.”

The royal ruse had everyone on social media in stitches.

Elizabeth has already shown Oscar-worthy improv talents. She astounded royal admirers by appearing in a 2012 Olympics opening ceremony skit with Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Frank Cottrell-Boyce, who wrote and helped direct the skit with Danny Boyle, said that the sovereign really wanted a speaking part.

“She remarked to Danny Boyle on the day we were shooting, ‘I believe I should have a line,'” he told the BBC on Friday. “She got that. She wasn’t even in the script.”

“Good evening, Mr. Bond,” she remarked to Craig’s Bond as they walked into Buckingham Palace.
