greatest friends for nearly 80 years end up moving into the same nursing facility and living out their greatest years.

A good friend can tell you the best stories, but your best buddy has experienced them all with you. Kathleen Saville and Olive Woodward, both 89, redefined the term “best friends” when they opted to move into the same nursing care home in England.

A friendship 78 years in the making

Kathleen Saville and Olive Woodward’s friendship has endured. Although most friendships fade with time, these two best friends haven’t missed a beat of each other’s ups and downs. They are now 89 years old and continue to share wonderful memories while living in the same care home in England.

Kathleen and Olive had always lived at least 10 minutes apart since they became close friends.

Both of these real-life golden girls grew up in the same area, attended the same school, and married coal miners. Now that they are in their eighties, they have decided to spend the next chapter of their lives together, as they have always done.

Spending quality time together

What better way for them to enjoy their golden years together? Olive decided to follow Kathleen to the Berry Hill Care Home. It made perfect sense for the two to be so close, and they couldn’t be happier. They can now see each other all the time and reminisce about their early years and their complete lives. The good times, however, are not over, and there are still adventures to be had.

The Dynamic Duo

Kathleen was the first resident to arrive at Berry Hill Park Care Home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Olive quickly followed her best friend.

“If I’m unhappy or in trouble, I only have to go to Kathleen, and we’ll always end up laughing,” Woodward told the BBC.

The 89-year-old moved in six weeks ago and says seeing her best friends “all day, every day” has helped her.

When the ladies first arrived at the care home, they were given an apt nickname. Nurses referred to them as the “dynamic duo.” They also intend to be closest friends in heaven. “If Olive goes first, she’ll come back and fetch me,” Kathleen told the BBC. “We’re going to be best friends forever in heaven.”

What is the source of Kathleen and Olive’s unwavering friendship? Kathleen claims that the two never quarrel. “When we met, we knew we’d always be best friends. “She means a lot to me,” remarked Saville. She even claims that their friendship will last beyond their time on Earth.

What is their counsel to anyone who wants what they have? “Get yourself out of here and go see your friend,” Saville said. “Don’t always wait for them to come over and see you.” And, as the dynamic duo of Berry Hill Park care facility once said, “it takes two to tango.”
