Richard Gere had to sell his home in order to relocate to a more affordable one…

Richard Gere’s acting career was halted several years ago, most likely due to comments he made that enraged Hollywood’s investors. He has now been compelled to reduce his lifestyle by relocating to a less expensive location.

Richard Gere fans may have noticed that he doesn’t appear in films as regularly as he used to. The most significant change, however, was not brought about by his aging, obsolescence, or retirement.

In 2017, Vanity Fair stated that China contributed considerably to Hollywood finance. Richard disparaged China during an off-script speech in support of the Tibetan people at the 1993 Academy Awards.

The exiled Dalai Lama’s companion and fellow Tibetan Buddhist revealed an incident that occurred to him in the past and presumably caused his removal from the big screen. Richard claimed that he had a project with a Chinese director that was supposed to be completed but didn’t.

The director informed him they couldn’t collaborate over the phone two weeks before the start of filming. The actor and his family would have been imprisoned in China and would never have had the opportunity to work with the director again, according to Richard.

“I had an incident recently when someone stated they couldn’t finance a movie with me because it would irk the Chinese.”

The actress, on the other hand, was not bitter about leaving Hollywood and foregoing prospects. He says he’s “OK” with not having to wear a tuxedo to contractually obligatory red carpet appearances and adds, “I’m not interested in playing the wizened Jedi in your tentpole.”

Furthermore, the actor has maintained his financial independence by taking on minor film roles. Richard told Vanity Fair that he had become so wealthy over the years that he could now afford to act in movies.

Being forced out of Hollywood also provided him with a lot more free time. The “Pretty Woman” star may now spend more time with his family and children.

Richard experienced a door closing, but as he fell in love, another door opened. He met the woman who would become his wife in 2014; she was 33 years his junior.

After falling in love with Alejandra Silva, the “Primal Fear” actor started sending her flowers. She finally gave in and decided to go on a date with him, and that is when he finally stopped. Little did she realize that they were meant to be.

Richard had been married twice before meeting Silva. Homer James Jigme, his first child and son with his second ex-wife, Carey Lowell, was born in 2000. The divorce of the Golden Globe winner from Lowell was finalized in 2016.

But they continued to raise their son together. Richard and Silva’s romance had progressed to the point that they planned to marry in 2018. In September, the actor spoke to People magazine about the couple’s romance, saying:

“Our karma was drawn to each other the moment we saw each other. I’m not disregarding our age difference or what it’s like to date a Hollywood celebrity, but when there’s such a strong karmic energy there, the problems fade away.

Silva, an activist, also brought her son Albert from her previous marriage to Govind Friedland into the union. She and Richard often choose a private life away from the spotlight.

Alexander, the couple’s first child and first son together, was born in February 2019. In 2019, Silva said that she didn’t regret meeting the actor, calling him “the most humble, sensitive, caring, attentive, hilarious, generous man that I’ve ever met.” The couple’s relationship appeared to be going well.

“I’m so in love,” she screamed, telling Hola! that Richard would ask her what she wanted for the day every morning. Silva, who said that her husband never mentioned how important she was to him, became the envy of many women.

Richard and his wife are expecting their second child in April 2020. The Chicago star now has additional children, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about Homer, whom he once described as the “light of my life.”

In 2015, the well-known spouse of the Spanish publicist told the Hindustan Times that he normally made his own film decisions but was careful to keep in touch with Homer. Every time he had to take a long vacation, he pledged to talk to his kid about it.

A basketball court, swimming pool, eating pavilion, and soccer field were all included in the three-story mansion.
If there were any complications, Richard would chose not to finish the project, stating that “family is more important than anything.” In 2019, the star was still hanging out with Homer.

Sources were able to secure photographs of the actor with Homer, Alexander, and Silva while on a family trip in Tuscany, Italy. Richard worked out outside with his oldest kid to enhance their bond.

The two appeared to be rather close as they joked and talked while working out. Although the actor lives a private life, significant events and changes in his personal life were made public in 2022.

In 1986, the “American Gigolo” star spent $1.51 million for his home, and over the years, he purchased surrounding homes to expand his compound. His family lived in a colonial-style mansion complete with guesthouses and a stable.

Richard resided in Pound Ridge, roughly 50 miles outside of Manhattan. Along with Silva’s wife, the town is home to other celebrities such as Tom Brokaw, Ryan Reynolds, and Mike Myers. Silva’s husband’s house has a boundary with the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation.

Natural elements of Richard’s mansion included rolling hills, a quiet lake with a beach, and weeping willows. A basketball court, swimming pool, eating pavilion, and soccer field were all included in the three-story mansion.

The “Runaway Bride” actress’s 11,658 square foot main property includes 10 bathrooms, eight bedrooms, a sunroom, a library, a contemporary kitchen, and a living room with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace.

In 2021, Richard listed the mansion for $28 million. The superstar wasn’t moving far because he had purchased a Georgian-style mansion in North Salem for a much lesser $9.8 million.
