(AP) SAN DIEGO — A woman in Rancho Bernardo is celebrating her 108th birthday and has some longevity advice.

Ginny Bergmann celebrated her 108th birthday at The Remington Club, an assisted living facility in Rancho Bernardo.
According to her daughter, Nancy Bergmann, Bergmann was born in New Jersey in 1914 but arrived in Rancho Bernardo after traveling nearly 17 times across the world due to her husband’s career as an aircraft engineer.
Ginny Bergmann moved to Rancho Bernardo with her daughter when her husband died in Australia in 1986.
«In her adolescence, she worked in New York City at her father’s design business and was inspired by everything around her, including the Empire State Building’s construction, Fifth Avenue window designs, and Broadway theater,» Nancy Bergmann told CBS 8.

Ginny Bergmann developed her passion for painting while designing fabric and wallpaper for children’s rooms, and she went on to study at New York City’s Parsons School of Design.
«To this day, she insists on stamping her approval on every clothing and accessory,» Nancy Bergmann stated.
And how did she manage to live for 108 years? Ginny offered her tips to living a long life.
There is always something to look forward to. Maintain an optimistic attitude. Accept the situation as it is and adjust. Look for the humor. Be considerate and consider others before yourself. Consume everything in moderation.
Ginny Bergmann’s daughter, Nancy Bergmann, believes her mother’s secret to longevity is her reaction to guilt.
“For example, rather than admitting a mistake, she says, innocently, “I don’t know what occurred; IT did it!” “I still haven’t figured out what IT is,” Nancy Bergmann said.
Bergmann’s 108th birthday was celebrated with a reception at her assisted living facility.
