$800 for ‘Boys’ Night’? He Made His Wife Pay — So I Made Him Regret It

Ten years in fine dining, and I thought I’d seen it all — until Jack and Lora.

They used to be sweet regulars, splitting bills and stealing glances. But lately? Lora paid everything. Jack just showed up, ordered the most expensive wine and meat, and pushed the check her way. No smile. No thanks.

Then came that night.

It was pouring. Jack swaggered in with eight loud friends and no Lora. He barked drink orders, calling it his treat. But when Lora arrived, soaked and exhausted, I saw it in her eyes — something was wrong.

Later, I overheard her sobbing in the restroom:

“I make more than him now, and he still makes me pay for his buddies?!”

That did it.

I found her afterward and whispered a plan. She nodded. A few minutes later, she got a “sudden emergency” call and left.

Then I approached Jack.

“Sorry, sir,” I said sweetly. “There’s been a reservation mix-up. This table’s double-booked. We’ll need it back.”

His face fell. His friends fidgeted.

“No room left,” I continued. “You can finish outside or take it to-go.”

And just like that, the king lost his court. One by one, his friends bolted. The $800+ bill sat waiting.

Jack freaked out. I stayed calm.

“You’ll need to cover it all yourself, sir.”

He swiped his card, humiliated and alone.

The next day, Lora returned — eyes bright this time.

“You didn’t just save my money,” she said, pressing a $100 tip into my hand. “You saved me.”

We both smiled. Sometimes, the best service isn’t what’s on the menu — it’s serving justice cold.
