Evelyn and Thomas were high school sweethearts in 1962. But after graduation, life took them separate ways — different cities, different marriages, different paths. They hadn’t seen each other in over 30 years.

That changed when Thomas was moved into a nursing home in Florida. On his second day there, a woman wheeled past him in the hallway — it was Evelyn.
Both were widowed. Both had raised families. And both instantly recognized each other.
From that moment on, they were inseparable. They spent their days playing cards, reminiscing, and holding hands like teenagers. The staff called them “the honeymooners.”

One day, Thomas proposed — using a ring made out of a tissue wrapper. Evelyn laughed and said yes.
Their children flew in from around the country for a small ceremony at the facility’s garden. Evelyn wore a blue dress. Thomas wore a bow tie. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
Their story reminds us: it’s never too late for love — not even after decades, and not even in a nursing home.
