A reunion between family members can be very emotional and touching, especially if they have been separated for a long time. This is the story of an elderly man and his sister reuniting after 5 years apart.

95-year-old Mary Pine surprised his younger brother, 94-year-old Bob Taylor, by showing up at his home in Atlanta, Georgia, 5 years ago. Time had passed and much had happened, and they had not seen each other in that time. Mary has relocated to a nursing home in Ambler, Pennsylvania. When the pandemic hit and the world went into lockdown in 2020, the siblings had to make do with daily phone calls instead of seeing each other.

Fate changed everything when Mary’s younger brother Bob and his two adult grandchildren drove all the way to her house, a 13-hour drive, to surprise her on her birthday on July 4, 2021. Morgan Taylor and Kenzie Hardin, two granddaughters, captured the touching moment between the siblings on video. When Mary entered the visitor’s area, her mouth dropped open in surprise when she saw her beloved younger brother, and she was overcome with joy as she hugged him tightly.

“It definitely pulled some heartstrings,” Morgan said. “I’m so happy he got the opportunity to see her again and her reaction was priceless. I know they were both overwhelmed with joy and love, and that’s all I could ask for as a granddaughter.”
