Matthew Walzer, a teen with Cerebral Palsy, wants the independence to care for himself just like any of us. He decided to write to Nike and beg for assistance. He has difficulty with shoelaces due to his disability.
Matt said in his letter that he is about to enter college and wants a shoe that he can put on himself. He also recalled Nike’s early slogan, “If you have a physique, you are an athlete.”
What action did the firm take in response? Simply fantastic! They not only did something fantastic for Matthew, but they went a step further and now have a shoe called the Flyease that is made specifically for those who have difficulty with their hands, and the firm is bringing it to market.

It’s amazing that this little boy’s wish led to an idea that would help a lot of people.
In 2021, Nike launched the Go Flyease, the brand’s first-ever mass-market hands-free shoe.
