In a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez revealed a story behind her J. Lo nickname

Jennifer Lopez, an American singer and actress, likes her nickname J.Lo so much that she puts it in lieu of her full name on social networking platforms.

The 52-year-old singer called her second album “J.Lo” 21 years ago, but she has finally revealed who gave her this adorable moniker-a combination of her first and surname names combined as a nickname.

J.Lo is used commercially by Jennifer Lopez. In an interview with InStyle for its next edition, the singer revealed that the late rapper Heavy D invented the moniker for her when she intended to go from acting to singing.

The name J.Lo was inspired by Heavy D. “He used to come by the studio for my first record and call me Jenny-Lo, Jennifer-Lo, or J.Lo,” Lopez told the outlet.

“I chose to name it J.Lo while I was working on my second album, and I feel that’s when it truly stuck!” she said.

Judy Greer, Jennifer Lopez’s co-star in the 2001 romantic comedy The Wedding Planner, also spoke with the newspaper about the term.

“Everyone on set referred to her as Jen-Lo—there was no J.Lo at the time.” I’d like to imagine it all began on a soundstage in Glendale, California. “I’m sure it didn’t, but I can believe I was there from the start,” the 45-year-old actress told the publication.
