Most individuals see air travel as an unpleasant activity. Delays, layovers, and slow service are just a few of the problems that make flying a dreadful experience for many people. The other passengers, on the other hand, may actually make or ruin a long journey.

Of course, military people are accustomed to coping with such inconveniences, and they do so without complaint. Sadly, when our military people return to society, they are sometimes forgotten, disregarded, or even m.i.s.t.r.eated, and the journey home will be no exception.

Jessica Titus saw an incident between a female Army officer and another passenger while waiting for her aircraft to take off. Thankfully, she was adamant about exposing the first-class passenger’s actions to everyone.
An unknown male passenger sprang up and blocked the servicewoman from passing as she walked down the aisle in first class to take her seat in coach. He refused to allow the lady to take her seat, catching her off guard. Surprisingly, he had a hidden motivation for refusing to allow her to seat.
“On my trip on Tuesday, I went down the jetway behind a uniformed lady” (Army). “A guy got out of his first-class seat and said, ‘Sorry ma’am, I’m in your seat,'” Titus said.

The man insisted on seeing her ticket after seeing that the female officer seemed perplexed. “What does your ticket say?” he inquired. “What?” said the cop. “No, I’m 31 B,” she assured, motioning toward her coach seat. Surprisingly, the guy was not about to let her go.
Instead of returning to his seat, the guy walked quickly toward seat 31B and silently took his spot. The police and the others around him noticed what the guy was doing at that point. As a thank-you for her military service, the guy devised a scheme to compel the officer to take his first-class seat.

Before the service member understood what the guy was up to, he was already in her economy seat, forcing her to take his place in first class.
“He stepped away, leaving her in first class and taking her center seat in coach,” Jessica Titus said.
Jessica Titus wanted to recognize the act of compassion.
Titus was astounded by the man’s costly show of generosity. After all, first-class tickets aren’t cheap. As a result, she slipped the guy a brief letter and some cash, thanking him for his kindness.
“Graciously accept a drink or snack on me,” she said in her letter. “The world would be a better place if everyone respected and treated people the way you treated the servicewoman.”

But, the guy turned down her offer, much to Titus’ chagrin. However, his rejection demonstrated yet again that he just wished to bless the lady out of the generosity of his own heart, expecting nothing in return. This is the purest kind of charitable giving.
In a world when so many of us are just concerned with ourselves, it’s wonderful to see someone seize the chance to perform a good act without expecting anything in return. This man’s modest act of generosity, hopefully, encourages others to do the same.
