Kevin Bacon, the Hollywood hottie, captivated hearts worldwide in 2020 with his passionate homage to his wife, Kyra Sedgwick. Bacon and Sedgwick initially met in the 1970s, when Bacon appeared in a local play that Sedgwick had seen with her brother. Bacon was 19 years old at the time, while she was just 12 years old.

“A young girl had just watched the matinée, and her brother said, ‘You loved that actor, go tell him you liked him,’ and it was Kyra,” he remarked on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2014. “She was just a young girl, perhaps 12 years old.”

Though Sedgwick did not believe he was her ideal at the time, he warmed her and they subsequently met again. They married in 1988.

They have been married for more than 30 years. Bacon honored their 32nd anniversary by posting a flashback picture from their wedding on social media in September 2020. He turned to Instagram to express his appreciation for his very special woman, Sedgwick. The actor penned a short, heartfelt greeting to his wife in which he gushed over their years together. Here is the caption: “11,680 days with you.” “Thank you for making each one count.”

Their Instagram followers soon responded under the picture to express their appreciation for their happy, loving marriage and to send the couple their best wishes.

However, the pair have experienced their share of difficulties. In 2008, Bacon and Sedgwick became victims of history’s greatest Ponzi scam, and they lost all of their wealth. “We found out when the rest of the world found out,” Sedgwick told People. “We’d both been working formally since we were seventeen; Kev since he was fifteen, and it was our funds, all the money we had… It was a tough day.”

While it was upsetting at the time, Bacon and Sedgwick both said it taught them to value what is really important in life: their children and their health.

The couple talked in one interview about their long-term relationship, detailing how they support one another and their respective occupations.

Bacon said at the time, “Kyra felt firmly that if she ever had kids, she needed to be present for them. Because of the children, she would often make professional choices that were not in her best interests. We continued to live in New York because we wanted to raise our children there, but there was more work in Los Angeles.”

While Sedgwick assumed the responsibilities first, her spouse reciprocated after she had her big break on the award-winning program “The Closer.”

“Then, when The Closer came around, the kids were still in high school or junior high, and she got this chance to travel out to California and be a lead in a TV program. ‘Listen, I’ll remain with the kids,’ I responded. This was the first time in our lives that I stated, ‘I’ll remain home, I’m not taking anything.'”
