A boy loses his parents and is called by the school principal weeks later, where he sees something which shocks him

This poor boy lost his parents in a car accident weeks ago. One day, when he attended a school, he surprisingly found his late mother’s photo in the principal’s office. He had no idea that it would expose some shocking things about his mother’s background. Patrick, 14, waited nervously and despondently outside his school principal, Mr. Walton’s, office. He understood why Mr. Walton had called, and he was not interested in engaging in such discussions.

As mentioned above, Patrick’s parents passed away after a car accident. He was aware that his mother was an orphan, and that his father was a single child whose parents had died many years before, leaving him with no relatives. After his parents died, social services put Patrick in the care of Mr. Duncan and his wife. Mr. Duncan was Patrick’s temporary caretaker, and when Patrick was accepted to the school where Mr. Duncan worked, he became his teacher.

However, Patrick was having difficulty dealing with his parents’ losses, so he couldn’t focus on his academics and was continuously skipping assignments and failing examinations. Patrick was called to Mr. Walton’s office after news of his bad performance reached him. He knew Mr. Walton would question him about why he was performing so poorly in school, and he didn’t want to speak about his parents’ death.

He realized he couldn’t truly avoid Mr. Walton, so he walked into his office. Patrick apologized, «I’m sorry, Mr. Walton.» But it wasn’t totally his fault. He was so obsessed with his parents and how he would react to Mr. Walton’s queries that he neglected to knock.

As he stood at the door, he pondered why Mr. Walton was worried when he saw him go in and what he was attempting to conceal. It’s OK. «Come in and have a seat,» Mr. Walton said. «How did you come to know my mother, Mr. Walton?» «What are you attempting to conceal?» «So, Patrick,» he began as he sat down. «You’re presumably aware of why we’re meeting today.»

I understand that everything has always been hard for you in your family, but we won’t be able to allow you to take the tests if you don’t start paying attention to your decreasing scores. It would be challenging for us as well… Patrick sat still, without saying anything. What would he say in response? that he preferred to remain at home rather than go to school? That he had no friends at his new school and didn’t care since all he wanted was his parents back?

He regarded himself as a powerful 14-year-old, not a helpless young child who ached for his parents. He was much too serious to express how much he missed them. Unfortunately, he didn’t trust anyone in his «new» life enough to just tell them what was going on inside his head, and whenever he sat down to study, he’d spend several hours thinking about his parents.

«Have you arrived, Patrick?» Mr. Walton inquired, interfering with his thoughts. «Can you commit to working harder from now on?» «I did,» he eventually admitted. «I’ll try my best, Mr. Walton,» he says, «but I’m having difficulty focusing since.» Mr. Walton’s phone rang, and Patrick was cut off before he could continue. «Just a minute, Patrick, I’ll be right back,» Mr. Walton remarked as he exited his office to answer the phone.

Patrick would have nearly spat out the true reason he was so preoccupied if the phone hadn’t rung. In his worry, he moaned and shook his legs. When Mr. Walton didn’t return after a few minutes, Patrick remembered the time he saw Mr. Walton concealing something. He had given it some consideration, and he knew what he was about to do was completely wrong, but he was anxious to find out what was going on, so he slowly unlocked Mr. Walton’s drawer.

He made sure no one could see him, and what he saw inside came as a shock to his eyes. «MOM?» Patrick couldn’t understand. He was looking at an image of his mom and Mr. Walton. Mr. Walton was holding and beaming at his mother, who seemed much younger in the photograph.

Mr. Walton came from his office at that point, and he paused for a moment when he saw Patrick grasping the photo. «You shouldn’t have…» Patrick had just begun to speak when he turned to look at him, tears streaming down his cheeks. Mr. Walton, how do you know my mother? «What are you attempting to conceal?» he almost screamed. Mr. Walton groaned and took his spectacles off. «Would you mind taking a seat, Patrick?» There’s a lot you should be aware of.

«As Patrick sat astonished, Mr. Walton’s eyes widened.» He didn’t know what to say to Patrick, but he knew the moment had come. He exposed himself to be Patrick’s grandpa and the father of Patrick’s mom. Stella fell pregnant with her boyfriend’s kid 15 years ago, when she was 17 years old. Mr. Walton expelled her because her partner refused to take accountability for Patrick and because he was opposed to her pregnancy.

«Because my wife passed away after delivery, I was everything to her,» he stated. «When I began missing your mom, I knew I’d made an awful mistake by throwing her out.» I begged her pardon, but it was too late. She’d met your father, was content with her family, and didn’t want me around. «Patrick, she was a powerful lady. Your mom was one of the bravest individuals I’ve ever met. even though she had no one to help her.

I was feeling very bad about what I did. My heart bled for you when I realized that your parents had passed away and that you were alone, so I begged Mr. Duncan to become your guardian and defend you. I was too nervous to look you in the eyes… «I’m sorry,» he eventually said. «Her mother stated she was an orphan!» «Do you consider yourself my grandfather?» When Patrick inquired, Mr. Walton nodded.

«You have every right to be furious with me for what I did, Patrick.» I know you’re afraid to remain with Mr. Duncan and would rather swap guardians and never see me again, but…» Before Patrick could continue, he leaped to his feet and held Mr. Walton passionately. » I’d like to live with you!» I forgive you everything! I am ecstatic to have you. We can go fishing, play baseball, and do a number of other fun things.

«Grandpa, you have no clue how thrilled I am today. Mom and Dad always stated that family is the most essential thing God has given us, and I am thankful to have one. He cried, «I love you!» Mr. Walton was astonished by how beautifully everything had worked out. He hugged Patrick, happy to see his grandson again. He’d come a long way to see Patrick, and he was eager to regain his lost time.
