Amber Heard has to sell her home in order to come up with the $8.3 million that she owes to Johnny Depp. Here is everything we currently know about the situation

Following her conviction for defamation in June, the court ordered Amber Heard to pay her ex-husband Johnny Depp a total of $8.3 million dollars in restitution. However, not long after the conclusion of the trial, the actress, who is 36 years old, disclosed that she did not have the financial resources to satisfy the charges, which included $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive penalties.

In a countersuit, the Aquaman actress obtained $2 million from Depp; however, she still owes more than $8 million.

According to TMZ, it is now said that she is raising part of the cash by selling her house in Yucca Valley, which is located in the desert of California, for $10.5 million, which would result in a profit of around $500,000 for Heard. She acquired ownership of the property in 2019 by using a blind trust that was associated with the actress.

In other developments, newly declassified court records reveal that Amber did not pursue a divorce settlement from Johnny that might have been worth tens of millions of dollars.

Documents obtained by the Daily Beast reveal that Heard disregarded the advice of her legal team in order to pursue Depp for the monetary compensation to which she was entitled after the filing of their divorce petition in 2016. Since the shooting of the fourth chapter of Pirates of the Caribbean took place during their marriage, she had the legal right to seek half of the $33 million that Johnny Depp gained from the production of the picture.

However, Heard is said to have declined to do so and sent an email to her previous legal team explaining that she was staying very loyal to her word and that this matter was not about the money.

The news organization made the point that during the trial that took place in June, Judge Penney Azcarate refused to allow any reference to these emails within the context of the defamation trial. The revelation that team Depp may have tried to submit nude images of Amber Heard, including Amber’s short job as an exotic dancer, is perhaps the spiciest and most interesting thing that can be gleaned from the records.

However, her legal team contended that these were unrelated personal things that should not be admitted in the trial since they were irrelevant.

On the other hand, Heard filed an appeal of the judge’s judgment in the defamation lawsuit she brought against Depp on July 21. In spite of the fact that she argued that one of the jurors on the case shouldn’t have been able to serve because his proceedings were planned for his dad, who had the same name and lived at the same address as the juror in question, her application for a mistrial that she had made a week earlier was rejected.

It has been claimed that Depp’s representatives have said that they have full faith in the decision notwithstanding the announcement of Heard’s appeals.

“The jury listened to the significant evidence given throughout the trial and came to a clear and unanimous conclusion that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp on several occasions,” stated a representative for Mr. Depp. We are unwavering in our belief that we are right and that this decision will be upheld.
