A boy brings a music band to his granny’s birthday celebration, and a woman hears the voice of the man she lost 54 years ago

On his grandmother’s birthday, a kid makes her weep by inviting a band for a special performance, and she knows the lead singer’s voice—it was the sound of a guy who still haunts her 54 years later.

“Did you actually invite him ?” That takes a lot of courage, Gran! “But what if he says no?” Kevin, 17, inquired, making Dorothy grin. Dorothy was telling Kevin about her first love as they were eating supper. Kevin couldn’t stop himself from wanting to hear the complete story ever since he discovered Dorothy had a boyfriend in high school.

“How long did you two date?” Was this before meeting Grandpa?” Kevin inquired further.

Dothory grinned once again as she sliced the meat for her dish. “It was before I met your grandfather,” she said. “I was 16 at the time, and knowing Michael, he would never have said no.” And, well, he said yeah. It’s simply that after I proposed to him, something unusual occurred, and we never saw one another again. ”

“Is there anything strange?”

Dorothy gave a nod. “He just vanished. Nobody knew what happened to Michael, and he never got back in touch with me. He also did not contact any of his friends or classmates. Surprisingly, his neighbors didn’t know anything about him save that his family had moved. ”

“That’s strange! He seemed to have just fled from everything. Why would he do such a thing? That’s incredibly brave! ”

Dorothy groaned, “Well, he must have had his reasons.” “All I wish he’d informed me before making his choice.” We’d figure out a way to remain together. “However, I feel God had other plans for us.”

“Do you have any of his photographs, Gran?” I’m sure you do! And would you have married him again if he had found you? ”

Dorothy halted for a moment. “I have some of our old school photographs .” If I were to marry him, I would first want to know why he left me. I adored him. Maybe I still miss him. But I, too, need some answers, Kevin. ” She laughed.

Kevin sat in Dorothy’s room after supper, and she showed him her old photographs with Michael. Kevin saw Dorothy’s joy in speaking about Michael.

Dorothy had been quite lonely and depressed when her grandfather passed away. Kevin asked his parents to move in with Dorothy so they could be near her. Kevin has always enjoyed spending time with Dorothy since he was a child, and this has not changed as he has grown older.

Kevin considered seeking Michael after hearing about his grandmother’s first love story, but he had no idea how…

She reached the edge of the platform and stood alone, her hands securely clasped to her breast. “I-I’ll never forget his voice!” she sobbed to herself.
Dorothy was celebrating her 70th birthday, and Kevin and his parents surprised her with a lavish party at a posh restaurant. They rented a banquet hall and decorated it with a huge birthday banner and lots of balloons.

Everyone sang the birthday song as Dorothy cut a chunk of the massive cake in the middle of the event hall. “Thank you very much, everyone,” she sobbed. “This was such a lovely surprise. I appreciate all you’re doing for me. ”

“Congratulations, Gran!” Kevin remarked this while hugging her. But the celebration doesn’t stop there! “I have a surprise for you!”

Kevin took the microphone and dashed up to the stage. “Pardon me, ladies and gentlemen.” “Could I please get your attention?” He started, and the audience turned to face him.

“Today is a really significant day for me.” “Today, my wonderful Gran is 70, and she’s even more stunning!” he said. “She’s been the most fantastic person in my life, and I know she’ll beat me to it because she loves me far more than I love her.” So, Gran, to put you to the test and demonstrate that your grandchild loves you much more, I have a wonderful present for you. I’ve asked a few special friends to join me on stage. Everyone, please welcome our band for tonight’s festivities! ”

The lights in the hall faded as Kevin spoke, and a spotlight concentrated on the musicians on stage. Everyone was taken aback. They were surprised to see the band was made up of elderly guys. None of them seemed to be younger than 75.

“Kevin!” snarled his father. “Is this meant to be a joke?” “Can’t you see how many people already despise this?”

“You just have to wait, Dad!” Kevin laughed. “Gran will really like it.”

Even though the people at the party were whispering, the musicians started playing a song, which filled the room and got everyone’s attention.

Meanwhile, Dorothy’s eyes welled up. As the first chords were played and the lead vocalist started to sing, she rose from her seat. She reached the edge of the platform and stood alone, her hands securely clasped to her breast.

“I’ll never forget his voice!” “I know it,” she said softly to herself.

Soon later, the lead vocalist collapsed to his knees on stage. Dorothy couldn’t believe her eyes when he offered, “Would you want to dance with me?” From that, everything became a haze. She didn’t understand she was dancing in the arms of the guy she had lost 54 years before when she answered yes. Michael was her name.

“Why did you leave me back then?” she wondered as reality set in. They were dancing to a slow tune, with the spotlight and all eyes on them. Dorothy had never looked happier.

“Did you forget about me?” “How could you think just of yourself?”

“I’m sorry, Dorothy,” Michael replied, his eyes welling up. “Your father was against you dating a street musician. He came to my home and told me that if I didn’t leave town, he would send me to a private institution in another state. And I knew better than anybody that you didn’t want to leave your house. I loved you, but I wanted you to be happy. I just loved you… I never married…… ”

Dorothy couldn’t stop crying. “How could you make a decision for both of us and then leave me like that?” “Who gave you that authority?” She leaned on his shoulder. “I got married and started a family, Michael.” My spouse was a wonderful guy, and I adored him.”

As they swayed along to the mellow music, Michael grinned and held her. “And that makes me happy, Dorothy.” Because I would have hated to see you miserable and alone, as much as I loved you. Do you know why we ran into each other again? Because God always saves the best for last… He took a step back and knelt down.

“Dorothy Fisher, will you marry me and be mine?” I’ve loved you more than my life, and I’d want to stay by your side until God brings us home. ”

Dorothy nodded yes again, tears in her eyes, and they kissed passionately as the music continued and everyone in the auditorium began to applaud.

Later, Kevin said that he located Michael on Facebook and that all it took was a click of a send button after putting up a message to Michael, who responded instantly to his invitation.

Michael and Dorothy were married a few months later. When they were ready to say their “I do’s,” Kevin abruptly jumped up and yelled:

“You’ve got to make my Gran pleased, Michael!” I hate you for taking her away from me! “I’m really envious right now!”

Everyone at the wedding was laughing, even Dorothy and Michael.
