Samuel L. Jackson spills the beans about his 41-year marriage

Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson have been married for 41 years, due to the vow they made when they said “I do” to be together forever.
In the beginning, we always emphasized that the most revolutionary thing black people could do was remain together and raise their children with the nucleus of having a father and a mother, since everyone loves to pretend that’s not the dynamic of the African American family. ” That it’s simply children being raised by ladies out here, which we know is incorrect,” LaTanya said in a joint interview with People published on Wednesday.

“To alter that narrative, we decided to declare, ‘We are going to stick together no matter what.'” we’ll work it out. ”

“It’s two individuals that respect one another, love each other, and watch out for each other,” her spouse told the site.

The actress, 72, and the actor, 73, married in 1980 and swore to honor their vows.

They met in 1970 when both were attending college in Atlanta. They married a decade later, vowing to take their vows seriously.

LaTanya’s promise to stand by her husband’s side “in good times and bad” was put to the test in the late 1980s, when the actor’s drug addiction spiraled out of control.

Samuel credits his wife for bringing him into treatment in the early 1990s and caring for their family while he recovered. The actor has been in rehab for more than 30 years.

“She gave me the opportunity to be the guy I was meant to be,” he said.

They have a 39-year-old daughter named Zoe Jackson.

Samuel received a leading part in Spike Lee’s 1991 film “Jungle Fever” after finishing treatment, and his career took off. His films have grossed almost $18.5 billion globally to date.

“Coming from our origins and the folks who nurtured us, we learn that we’re not better than anybody else,” the modest actor remarked. “A job is a job,” they say. We were lucky to have employment.

LaTanya, who received a Tony nomination in 2014 for her performance in “A Raisin in the Sun,” said her husband is genuinely a one-of-a-kind performer since he “loves every piece” he accepts. “‘Snakes in a Plane,’ I was like, ‘Really?'” she laughed.

Jackson and Richardson take the month of July off from work to spend time with their families.

Despite being in their “seventh decade,” the pair still find time for family.

The couple claimed that they take a break from business every July to spend quality time with their 39-year-old daughter, Zoe.
