Most of us take our daily lives for granted. For example, we have the capacity to see, hear, walk, and communicate, yet other individuals do not have these talents.
Living without the capacity to see is arguably the worst of all of these things. The straightforward beauty of a green field or a blue sky We can’t fathom our lives without these gems.
That is why we found this story so intriguing. Nicolly Pereira, who is just two years old, has spent her whole life unable to see or hear her mom. She had many procedures in Brazil, but none were successful.
After Nicolly’s mother, Diana Pereira, shared her story on Facebook, a campaign to discover a means to give her the ability to see was established. And the results were… well, incredible!
According to the Miami Herald, Nicolly was diagnosed with childhood glaucoma soon after birth. The physicians were certain that she couldn’t even see light and that she would have to spend the rest of her life in the dark.

However, after hearing Diana’s story on Facebook, a Miami Herald reader contacted the Jackson Health Foundation, which collaborated with Kevin Garcia’s company. Nicolly’s operation cost $17,000, which the two charities were able to cover.

After the operation, which lowered the pressure in her eyes from 50 to 12 (the typical level for youngsters is between 10 and 20), the day arrived to see whether the procedure was effective.
In a moving video captured just after the bandages were removed, we observe young Nicolly weeping violently. But she relaxes as the doctors remove the bandages from her eyes. For the first time in her life, she is able to see!
The first few seconds, she was confused, but when she saw her mother, Diana, everything changed.
