You’ve probably seen a lot of postpartum images on the internet. However, this set of images depicts something you’ve probably never seen before: a mother’s excitement at seeing her kid, who was born and created via the use of a surrogate mother.

Kim Overton was diagnosed with fibromyoma, but she underwent surgery and was able to give birth to a child in 2012. When she chose to have a second child, the doctors advised her that becoming pregnant at this point was almost impossible.

Kim started to think about surrogacy. Sydney, who is her cousin’s daughter, was interested in the job when she told her family about it. 
Kim and her husband were both very moved. “Sidney appeared to us like an angel,” Kim adds. “We wouldn’t have been able to have a kid without her.” What she did was an act of selflessness and love.
