Britney Spears didn’t approve of her son discussing her mental health

Britney Spears’ teen son described their strained relationship in a recent interview with filmmaker Daphne Barak. Jayden Federline, 15, said that Spears «struggled» to provide him and his brother, Sean Preston, 16, equal care and attention, and that his brother suffered the brunt of her wrath. In a long message on Instagram on September 1, Spears said that she «treated Jayden better» than she did Preston in response to what Jayden said about her parenting in the ITV interview.

«I tell my son Jayden that I will send all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life,» Spears said, adding that despite the constraints of her 13-year conservatorship, she «did [her] best.» «My love for my children has no bounds… and it truly upsets me to hear his protest that I didn’t live up to his motherly expectations.»

Spears immediately directed her ire against her boys’ father, Kevin Federline, in the post’s second slide, saying she aided him financially since he «hasn’t had a job in 15 years.» She claimed it was easier for Jayden and Preston to live without discipline because Federline does not check their homework and «smoke pot every day.» «It’s hard to have your father be a hypocrite and claim the media is terrible while having you speak about personal stuff to them.»

After telling her sons to ask their father to «at least mow the lawn,» Spears’ husband, Sam Asghari, said, «Mowing the lawn > professional baby daddy.» (In all, Federline has six children ranging in age from eight to twenty, with three women.) Asghari’s reply has received approximately 50,000 likes so far.

In the interview, which the Daily Mail released quotes from one day before it aired, Jayden also addressed criticism of his grandparents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, in the interview. Although he admitted that «maybe the conservatorship went on for too long,» the 15-year-old stated that his grandpa «doesn’t deserve all the hate he is receiving in the media,» since he «was just trying to be a parent.» Jayden argued that his grandparents «are not nasty people,» calling Lynne a «very wonderful lady.»

Spears disagreed with that judgment as well. «Psss, if you can honestly claim with your intelligent mind that what memaw and paw paw did to me was OK and  term them not evil people..then yes, I have failed as a mother, and hopefully that’s a conversation for you and your father to sit face to-face and attempt to understand WHAT’S GOOD.»

Still, it seems that the mother and boy are not without hope. Despite admitting that it would «take a lot of time and work» to mend the relationship, Jayden said that he «100% this can be healed.» » «I just want her to get well psychologically,» he continued. I definitely want to visit her when she gets well.»

Meanwhile, Spears does not agree with her son publicizing her mental health, but she seems to be keen on talking things out privately. «Perhaps one day we can meet face to-face and speak about this honestly,» she said on Instagram.
