No matter how much our minds wish to be independent, our bodies begin to need the assistance and care of others as we age. There are very few of us who would not choose to spend our last years among our closest friends and family. Merle had this purpose when she returned to Victoria, Australia, as an old woman!

Merle wanted to live near her family but alone. With its stairs and corridors, a property is often unsuitable for the elderly. Fortunately, Ferne, her daughter, was knowledgeable about the subject. She is a modest home designer and jumped at the opportunity to offer her mother something special. As a result, she started the process of creating her most unique house—the one in which her mother would reside.
Ferne’s mother was not old, but traces of aging were visible. They both knew it would only get worse with time. As a result, Ferne constructed the home with all of the emergency medical equipment that Merle could need in the future in mind. The finished home measures 23.5 feet by 8 feet. The entrances were spacious and had ramps. As a result, it is one of the most accessible and mobility-friendly mansions in the world. The kitchen counters were custom-built to accommodate Merle’s reach.

Furthermore, all of the walls in the home have handrails, so Merle can always grab something to keep herself stable. In case Merle chooses to relocate again, the house’s lovely terrace is totally removed and reconstructed. There is also a lovely agricultural view, which is enough to make anybody want to stay there and not go anywhere else.
In addition, the walls and roof feature additional high-quality insulation to keep Merle warm in the winter. Pre-installed screens keep insects away. Although it may seem to be an unnecessary feature, it is crucial in Australia. The main screen, which is linked to the entrance ramp, is totally motorized. It simply takes one button to turn it on.
Merle picked the interior ideas and colors for her house. Merle is free to move about since the house has underfloor heating and a non-slip, level surface. The bed is probably the most interesting feature. During the day, Merle may press a button, and machinery will elevate the bed to the ceiling. Cabinets are integrated into the wall. Drawers are kept in highly accessible and practical places so that Merle may get to them as quickly as possible.

In principle, it has everything an old person may need. But how does Merle feel about it? Merle considers it her daughter’s most thoughtful present to her to date. That says so much! There are, of course, reasons for this. She explains how close the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom are to one another.
Furthermore, the passageways are wide enough to accommodate a walker. Ferme and I both agree that this is her greatest home to date. The outdoors are likewise breathtaking. It has a practical form, yet it makes you turn your head for a second look. Merle can’t decide which portion she prefers!
