Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are still grieving the death of their son Jack, whom they feared died in a miscarriage due to a pregnancy issue in 2020. However, Teigen disclosed on Sept. 15 at social impact firm Propper Daley’s “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation” summit that the loss can actually be attributed to an abortion, which took her a long time to understand.
She stated during the conference, “I had to make a lot of difficult and terrible decisions two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John, and my third kid.” “About halfway through, it became clear that he wouldn’t live, and if no medical help was given, neither would I.”
Teigen spoke about her decision to terminate her life-threatening pregnancy at a conference with programs meant to connect creative and entertainment executives with cultural changemakers. “Let’s just call it what it was: an abortion,” remarked the model. “An abortion to save my life for a baby who had no chance.” And, to be honest, I never put that together until a few months ago. ”
I told you all we had a miscarriage because I thought that was what it was. But it was an abortion, and we were heartbroken and grateful all at once. It just took me over a year to realize it. https://t.co/x5XPu7pg2S

Teigen didn’t realize she’d benefited from the statute until the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade earlier this summer, which had previously guaranteed the constitutional right to abortion. While she was sharing her empathy for those who had to make these tough emotional decisions, Legend softly reminded her that they had done just that with her pregnancy. Teigen admitted, “I went silent, feeling strange that I hadn’t made sense of it that way.” “I informed the world we had a miscarriage, and the world agreed; all the headlines indicated it was a miscarriage. And I became extremely irritated that I didn’t state what it was in the first place, and I felt ridiculous that it had taken me over a year to realize that we had had an abortion.
The Cravings author also shared her story on social media, stating, “I told you all we had a miscarriage because that’s what I thought it was.” But it was an abortion, and we were both grieved and grateful. It just took me a year to figure it out.
Teigen and Legend recently announced that they are expecting their second child following a successful round of IVF, despite earlier stating that they would not try for another. They have two children, Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, and just celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, for which Legend penned the song “Wonder Woman.”
