Land Ark RV’s smart recreational vehicle is a fantasy come true for followers of both the television program Mad Men and small dwellings. The company made the “Draper,” a mid-century modern RV named after the main character of the TV show, Don Draper, who was played by actor Jon Hamm!
The cheerful and imaginative Draper’s attitude and manner are congruent with the overall appearance of Land Ark’s trailer. The RV shouts “Mad Men” from every angle, with its clean lines and absolute simplicity on both the inside and outside.
With its sloped roof, big windows, and practically all-black façade, the little house intimidates the beholder with its strong appearance and incredibly macho atmosphere. On the other end of the RV, there is a black door and a brown panel that can be pulled down to serve as an elevated outside patio.
Once you’ve found a suitable parking spot, it will be the perfect location to enjoy the outdoors and breathe in some fresh air. The inside is diametrically opposed to the outside, which is absolutely dark. To harmonize, white-washed pine walls, ceiling, and floor are accented with light hues. The little home has an impression of space because of the bright and airy color choice.
When you go inside the 300-square-foot RV, you’re met with a mudroom with a wardrobe, a separate washer and dryer utility closet, and a nook with a bench and storage ideal for storing shoes and jackets.
The mudroom is linked to the rest of the area via a gallery with recessed lighting and clerestory windows. The sleeping loft, which has big windows all around it, is reached by a custom-made wood ladder.
Below it is the main living space, which has a large galley kitchen and a U-sofa that turns into a queen bed for the occasional guest. The bathroom is small, but it is just wonderful. There is a vanity, a wall-hung toilet, and a full-size walk-in shower with recessed lighting and a window.
