How the most deserving homeless people are awarded

Billy Ray Harris, a homeless man, was sitting on the plaza in Kansas City in 2013, holding out a begging mug.

Sarah Darling happened to be walking by.

She tossed money into the mug when she noticed Harris and didn’t realize how a diamond ring dropped off her hand with the coins.

An hour later, Billy uncovered a diamond with a gleaming stone.

“I went on my bike and poured the contents of the mug into my palm, and there was a ring there!” the homeless man explained to NBC News.

Billy realized that the ring is $4,000 in price.

The tramp could have pawned the jewelry and received the money, but he chose not to.

Thank goodness he didn’t!

Sarah Darling did not notice the missing ring till the end of the day.

“I was really angry not because it was pricey, but because it meant so much to me,” Darling worried.

The woman was then struck by the realization that she might have misplaced the ring while giving coins to a homeless person.

Sarah walked to the square in search of the missing people.

She squatted next to Billy and inquired whether she had given him anything of value.

“Was that a ring?” inquired the homeless man.

When Sarah said yes, Billy took out the jewelry and handed it to her without hesitation.

Billy was raised by his grandfather, a priest, who appears to have done a good job!

“My grandfather was a priest,” I explain.

He raised me from the age of six months, for which I thank the good Lord!

It’s a blessing! I still follow the instructions of my grandfather,” said the tramp.

Sarah was so happy to get the ring back that she gave Billy all the cash she had in her wallet.

But that’s not all!

Sarah and her husband, Bill Krejci, decided to assist the new acquaintance in getting back on his feet and began fundraising online, raising more than $190,000 in three months.

Billy’s life has changed drastically since then.

The tramp was reunited with his family after receiving donations to buy a house and a car.
