When a couple of cops responded to an emergency call, they discovered their former teacher, who had a crazy plan. They decided to assist her and accompanied her on her journey, only to discover a heartbreaking reality. Her journey, however, was not in vain.
Officer Martn had parked in front of the bus station when he noticed that an ambulance had arrived ahead of them. He and his partner, Officer Santana, responded immediately after receiving a call about an elderly woman who had collapsed.
They both got out of their patrol car and noticed paramedics tending to an elderly woman who appeared to be conscious and talking.

“Dear Ms. Laura?” Officer Santana inquired, his eyes wide. Officer Martin smirked. He had also recognized the woman.
“Laura, Mrs. “Are you all right?” he inquired as they both approached.
The older woman narrowed her eyes and looked up, but she recognized them. “Julian! Christina! Or should I say ‘officers’? They haven’t seen me since they graduated from high school. “What are they doing here?” she exclaimed, panting.
“They requested that we respond to an emergency call. Is everything all right? “What exactly are you doing at this bus stop?” Officer Santana sat up and placed her hand on her beloved teacher’s shoulders.
Julián and Christina were former classmates, and Mrs. Laura was their math teacher. Despite her strictness, the woman had always been charming. She had retired and lived in a quiet neighborhood of the city.
“Well, I had hoped to go to the coast. “I need to see my son,” Mrs. Laura said, her brow furrowed.
“Pedro? Why? “Does he have a problem?” Christina inquired, her hand still resting on the woman’s shoulder.

“I’m not sure. He hasn’t contacted me in months. “He doesn’t call me often, but when I do, he usually answers,” Mrs Laura explained, looking down and shaking her head.
“Well, I’m sure we could get some people to look around his house or something,” Julian proposed, but the old lady shrugged.
“It’s just that I’d like to go personally. I need to know if my son is okay, and I…. “I don’t think I have much time left on this planet, and I’d like to see the sea one last time,” the woman said quietly.
“She doesn’t need to come with us, but she’s very weak,” Christine said as the paramedic stood up. “I wouldn’t recommend leaving her alone on the bus, especially if she’s going all the way to the coast,” the paramedic said before leaving.
“You heard him, Mrs Laura. “You should go home and rest right now,” Julian said softly.
“I can’t. I must make that trip! My son and the sea are both calling my name. Something is going on, but I’m not sure what it is. Please assist me.” Mrs. Laura pleaded.
Julian and Christina exchanged glances. They couldn’t make her go home and rest. They had no idea what they could do to help her until the officer had an idea.

“There’s a reason we’re here. We must assist her. Although it is technically not our job, being a police officer is all about helping people, right?” Christina argued with her companion.
Julian exhaled a sigh. “Well, it’s not always like that. But I’d like to assist her as well. Let’s get started.”
That decision did not sit well with their captain. Julián and Christina used their free time a few days later to take Mrs. Laura to the coast. It was 2,000 kilometers away, and they knew it would be a difficult journey.
Their teacher, on the other hand, had one wish that could be their last, and they were determined to grant it. They had more fun than they expected on the long and winding road.
Mrs Laura had always been pleasant, but the officers had learned a lot about her on the journey. After a four-day journey, they arrived at the coast.
It would have been faster, but they stopped at inns along the way to give Mrs Laura a rest. They had no idea what was in store for them until they arrived at her son’s house.
“What exactly happened here?” Mrs Laura inquired, her gaze drawn to the picture in front of her.

“Are you certain this is Pedro’s residence, Mrs. Laura?” Christina inquired, perplexed and alarmed.
Julián looked around, his mind racing with the worst possible scenarios. Pedro’s home had been completely destroyed. Something had occurred. The surrounding houses were in disrepair, but it was clear that they were being repaired.
“I’m going to inquire. “Wait for me here,” Julián said as he approached the neighboring houses.
“Don’t be concerned, Mrs. Laura. We’ll find out what’s going on. “I’m so glad we came with you on this trip,” Christina said as she hugged the elderly lady.
Julián was able to speak with a neighbor, but he did not receive any good news. He returned to the teacher and her classmate, contemplating how he would explain what had occurred.
Mrs. Laura knelt on Christina’s shoulder and comforted her. Pedro had refused to evacuate as a hurricane passed through the area. He was killed when a tree branch fell on his house’s roof.
The neighbors pooled their resources to pay for Pedro’s burial; they had no idea he had family, so no one told Laura. They showed Julián to his grave.

“I apologize, son. I apologize for not being the mother you required. I should have gone above and beyond. I should have called sooner and offered you my house to keep you company.”
Mrs Laura sobbed uncontrollably over her son’s plain tombstone. Christine and Julian decided to give the bereaved mother the opportunity to say her final goodbyes.
“I’m glad we came with her,” Christine said, nodding.
Mrs Laura was ready to leave after a few hours and requested to be taken to the nearest beach. Without hesitation, the officers agreed.
The sea’s waves provided them with a sense of calm. They were exhausted from the long journey and the day’s heartbreaking news. Mrs Laura removed her shoes, sat on the sand, and let the water touch her toes. Christine and Julian followed suit.
The elderly lady sighed. “I enjoy going to the beach. “I haven’t been there enough,” she remarked. “Don’t make that error, guys. “Go to the beach more often.”
“I will, Mrs. Laura,” Christine said confidently. They were all silently admiring the sunset over the horizon.
Mrs Laura died not long after they returned. She had no family, so Christine and Julian planned her funeral and burial. Some of their police station colleagues came to their aid.

The officers were marked by those last days with their former teacher. They would never forget her or her words… “We have to go to the beach more often,” Julián told Christina when the funeral was over.
“We will,” she said with a smile.
