Doctors Said This Toddler With Cerebral Palsy Would Never Talk But Now He’s Singing!

Malakai, a Canadian six-week-early baby, weighing 3.8 pounds when she was born in 2017. The little fighter was only in the NICU for 12 days before being released to his mother and father.

As a result of his premature delivery, he suffered brain damage and was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy at the age of 17 months. Malakai’s parents were told by doctors that he would probably never walk, crawl, or talk.

Despite their prognosis, his parents didn’t give up on him. They started working with specialists right away to help Malakai progress.

“We undertake daily exercises and physiotherapy at home, as well as therapy appointments at the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre every few weeks in the hopes of building muscle in his core and loosening those tight muscles in his arms and legs,” his mother Lindsay said on GoFundMe.

Their ultimate objective is for him to be able to walk and sit without assistance.

Malakai has not only improved significantly since then, but he has also developed well above what his doctors expected! The toddler can now walk while using a walker! Not to add that he is developing the strength to walk on his own and learning to sit on his own.

Every accomplishment he achieves is notable, but his ability to communicate is especially outstanding. What a beautiful voice he has! He likes to sing the ABCs, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” and other well-known tunes.

Lindsay said she can’t get enough of seeing the pride in his eyes when he completes a task he struggled with, such as picking up a toy or using his spoon. Small things bring him immense joy, and his happiness radiates to the rest of his family!

What an incredible little boy! We’re so glad Malakai is living his best life surrounded by people who love him with their whole hearts!

Watch him speak and sing in the video below, and consider helping his family with his medical care on GoFundMe. Don’t forget to share this story with your friends to make them smile.
