Mike Sheff, 63, had no idea what to expect when he walked into Henrico Doctors Women’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, to see his daughter Jessie Way. When he and his wife, Julie, 63, saw the newborn child, Jesse, Julie discovered a name tag: Michael Sheff Way. Not only did Jessie name her child Michael, but his middle name, Sheff, was her maiden name, which she and her sister lost when they married.

Jessie, 33, wanted to maintain the name, and when Julie suggested Mike read the tag, it quickly caught fire. Baby Michael was delivered a few days early, according to Jessie, so she and her 35-year-old husband Barrett kept the name a secret until her parents came from Oxford, Ohio.

This incident occurred in October 2019, but Jessie only recently decided to release a video of Michael’s reaction on social media. Mike’s emotional reaction quickly went viral, and the post has since earned over 11 million views. “After watching their reaction, I had no doubt that our boy had the ideal name,” Jessie explained.
