René Lacoste began the Lacoste brand by having a friend embroider a crocodile into one of his white jackets. Réne was regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. People began referring to him as «the crocodile» since he was so large. And that is the symbol of this well-known brand.

Ingvar Kamprad established IKEA. He began by selling cheap matches, one of the most regularly used household items. After that, he let his imagination run wild.
The name of the company is a combination of his initials, the first letter of his childhood farm, Elmtaryd, and the first letter of his hometown, Agunnaryd.
#4 Aston Martin
In 1913, two car enthusiasts created Aston Martin in a small garage in London. By designing and producing their autos, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford took their enthusiasm to the next level.
The origins of Aston Martin as we know it now are fascinating. Lionel Martin competed in and won the «Aston Clinton Hill Climb» in one of their automobiles. As a result, his surname, «Martin,» was added to the name of the race he won, creating a brand name for them.

Lipton was founded by Thomas Johnston Lipton, who had a tea business in 1887.
#6 Ben & Jerry’s
Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield created the well-known ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s in 1978. It all started with a modest gas station in Burlington, Vermont, which they turned into a business. The pair contributed $12,000 to reach their goal.
They gradually boosted their ice cream manufacturing and began selling it to various restaurant chains. Due to overwhelming demand, the first specialized shop opened in Shelburne, Vermont, in 1981. As they say, the rest is history.
#7 Nike Air Jordan
Michael Jordan was inspired to collaborate on a new line of sneakers by the well-known brand Nike. The line was dubbed «Air Jordan,» and the first pair, made exclusively for basketball players, debuted in 1984. However, publicizing them was not easy.
At the time, basketball players were required to wear only white sneakers on the floor. Conversely, Nike agreed to pay the $5,000 fine each time Jordan wore them in a game. This was successful, and the initial $50,000 pairs were immediately sold out. Following that, the sneakers continued to arrive.
#8 Adidas
Adi Dassler started his career in his mother’s lavatory in Germany, with the goal of providing athletes with the best equipment possible. As a result, he founded «Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik» in 1924.
When Germany and Hungary went head-to-head in 1954, and Germany won while wearing Dassler gear, the brand surged. As a result of the increased attention, the brand evolved into what we know today.
