McDowell found love again when she remarried her old high school classmate Rhett Hartzog in November 2001. In front of 450 people, the couple exchanged vows in a spectacular ceremony in Asheville, North Carolina.

McDowell did, however, file for divorce in 2004, and the process, like her first, was heartbreaking. Because no further details about their divorce were made public, a source described it as a «sad and very private moment.» After three years of marriage, she and Hartzog divorced.

McDowell said she had learned to accept aging, despite having previously taken Botox and thought about plastic surgery. She has chosen to go natural rather than undergo cosmetic surgery on her face.

McDowell celebrated his 64th birthday in April 2022. The “Along for the Ride” actress flaunted her gray hair in July 2021 with salt-and-pepper-hued curls on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.

However, McDowell admitted to People in June 2022 that she was satisfied with her gray hair and mentioned that her sister, who is 18 months older than her, already had silver hair and thought it made her appear “more beautiful.”

“I enjoyed being able to see the roots with my face, skin, and eyes during COVID. I believed it would make me happier. I am also happier. I genuinely enjoy it, “McDowell stated.
