The popular wedding dance of a father and daughter

“I think it’s sort of unique to watch a father of Asian background relax up, let go, and simply love his American child’s music and culture,” the bride said of the film, which has earned over 40 million views.

The couple danced their way into the hearts of internet users when a video of a bride and her father’s wedding performance went viral.

Brittany Revell and her father, Kelly, are dancing to the Cali Swag District song “Teach Me How to Dougie,” which has received over 40 million views on TikTok.

According to Brittany, 30, of San Diego, their “dance through the decades” performance included the Tootsie Roll, Hammer Dance, and Carlton.

According to the bride, weddings are a genuinely special occasion since guests travel from all over the world to celebrate the love of a particular someone. The 63-year-old father and Brittany’s daughter were confident that the audience would enjoy seeing the ancient dancing methods.

The video received positive feedback from online users, with many praising Kelly’s efforts. “He understood the homework,” one TikTok user said. “He is certainly the primary character,” said another.

“It’s remarkable to witness a father of Asian descent let go, open up, and simply love his American child’s music and culture,” Brittany concluded.

She stated that the two had previously garnered Internet popularity for performing the Dougie. In 2020, they shared a video that received over 18 million views and served as the inspiration for her father-daughter dance.

During the epidemic, Brittany, a physical therapist, and her father, a retired accountant, began making TikToks together.

Brittany’s New Year’s resolution is to dance more, as she grew up doing so. “I ended up downloading TikTok to play around with some of the dancing chores, and for one of the difficulties, I required a partner,” she said.

She claimed that she sought her father’s assistance because she was living with her parents at the time, and that despite his lack of dancing skill, they liked producing their movie together, which made them feel even closer.

“I also believe that I’ve been able to move him out of his comfort zone a little bit more,” she continued, “although I think we share some features.” I believe he has watched me change as I’ve grown older, but I also believe he has changed slightly.

Brittany expressed gratitude to her father for their close friendship and the videos they created together.

When I read some of the comments, it warmed my heart. Some people tell us how encouraging our relationship is for them to be better with their future children since they have lost or had a bad relationship with their fathers, she added.

That, I believe, is what is most important to us. We would not have been able to reach such a diverse demographic without the internet. I sincerely hope that we can continue to make people smile and brighten their days, even if just for 30 seconds.
