During the summer of 2017, Lindsey, a vet student, came upon a little motherless ginger cat sitting by the side of the highway. In critical condition, the kitten was transferred to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

She was ill and unable to feed herself, and she was on the approach of being executed. Fortunately, Lindsey made the wise decision to bring the cat home with her and properly care for her. She even changed the kitten’s name to Smush to help him feel better.

Smush was given medicine for an upper respiratory ailment she had contracted when she arrived at the foster home. Smush grew stronger and began to eat on her own approximately a month later. Her upper respiratory disease had totally resolved, and she had been ringworm-free for several weeks. The adorable kitty was recovering in foster care. She was in good health, energetic, and anxious to find her permanent home.

Fortunately, Shannon and Sarah, who live in Florida, applied to adopt Smush and were successful.. They came across the adorable kitty via a Facebook post and immediately realized she was destined to be with them.

Smush is now enjoying her new life with her loving family, which includes three dogs, three cats, and a hedgehog, following her formal adoption. Smush is the eldest of five siblings.
