You may have some questions about the image of a young girl playing with a large sum of money, but wait until you understand the story behind this somewhat contentious image.

Larsen syndrome, a rare condition that causes defective bone growth, was present in Addie’s body at birth. As a result, Addie spent most of her childhood at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Mother Julie, who never left her side, was there for her at all times.

Addie has changed between 60 and 70 leg casts thus far. Addie also underwent four procedures after birth to address the posterior position of her legs. After years of expensive treatments and surgery, Addie’s family could no longer afford the essential medical care.

Luckily, she is still receiving free care from the medical professionals at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Eight years after her birth, Addie is now more autonomous than anyone could have ever imagined. She has the ability to go above and beyond everyone’s expectations. The child decided to do something to show her gratitude to the hospital for correcting her backward knees.
