A 9-year-old girl paid a visit to the Detroit Police Department, and the event is now receiving attention.

The girl opted to surprise the men in blue on their birthday to convey her gratitude for all of their hard work every day and for putting their lives in danger to protect the town where she lives.

Samya and her mom packed sandwiches for all of the police officers on duty that day and delivered them to the police station. After seeing the tragedy in Dallas, where five officers were slain in a sniper strike, the girl formed this opinion.

Samya paid for her groceries with her own money as well as money she received for her birthday from family and friends. The cops reciprocated by showering the nice and generous young lady with their own gifts. Samya was also named “Officer of the Day,” which she graciously accepted.

In an era when the divide appears to be growing, it’s heartening to see cases like this in one of the country’s largest cities where the community and cops come together.
