The wedding of Aric Hutchinson and Samantha Miller ended in tragedy when they were hit by a drunk driver while leaving their celebration on Folly Beach, South Carolina. The couple and two other passengers were in a street-legal cart when they were hit by a 25-year-old motorist who was going 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.

Samantha was slain, and Aric was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Two other people were hurt as well. The driver, Jamie Lee Komoroski, had ingested alcohol prior to the crash, according to the Associated Press. She is charged with reckless vehicular homicide and driving under the influence causing death on three counts. The blood test results are still pending. If she is found guilty, she faces up to 25 years in prison for each DUI count.
The crash sent the golf cart flying nearly 100 yards, rolling several times before coming to a stop. Samantha died at the scene, still wearing her wedding gown, while Aric was taken to the hospital with fractured bones and brain trauma. The other passengers were also injured, and the family’s joy turned to grief and loss.

Samantha’s mother, Lisa Miller, said Samantha wished the night could go on forever since it was the finest night of her life. Earlier in the evening, the bride’s mother danced with her daughter to Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.” The happy occasion had suddenly turned into a terrifying nightmare for the family.
Two GoFundMe projects have been launched to assist the victims’ relatives. The first campaign, managed by Aric’s mother, raised about $600,000, while the second, organized by Samantha’s sister, raised nearly $37,000. Both families are mourning Samantha’s death and hope for Aric’s recovery as a result of the unfortunate accident.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones.
