87 years spent together! They set a record for a marriage’s duration with this couple.

Two spry people recently celebrated their 83rd wedding anniversary, marking the oldest marriage in British history. Helen and Maurice Kay, who are 104 and 105 years old, celebrated their anniversary with family last week in Bournemouth.

The couple first met while Maurice Cai worked as a salesman for his father’s company. They have been together for 87 years.

Thank God, despite all the changes, we still have each other. Our darling great-grandchildren kept us totally engaged during the wonderful day that we had. I’m already looking forward to the next anniversary.

Helen Kai expressed her surprise at how much she enjoyed the party held at their home, 160 kilometers outside of London: “I was shocked at how much I liked it.”

Along with six great-grandchildren and seven grandchildren, only two of the couple’s children are still living. According to their daughter Tina, they are “an inspiration to everyone they know,” and we “consider ourselves tremendously fortunate by them.”

She described her father as being sarcastic, having a terrific sense of humor, and being an all-around great guy. Her mother was described as a very fashionable, well-groomed woman who gets a manicure every Friday and visits her hairstylist at least twice a week.

The pair said that if Helen Kaye hadn’t been waiting for her older sister to be married, they may be celebrating their 87th wedding anniversary right now. After his marriage, Maurice Kaye ran his father’s factory and two stores in London, which had been completely destroyed by the bombings.

In 1939, he started fighting on the front lines against the Nazis. The couple moved to Bournemouth after the war, where they had four children, two of whom survived to adulthood.

After the war wrecked their business, stores, and home in 1944, the couple relocated to Bournemouth and had four children.

Maurice Cai once quipped in a joke: “I didn’t anticipate it to last a week, but it’s wonderful, it lasts 80 years.” In this interview, Maurice Cai claimed to know the key to a contented family life: constantly coming to an agreement with his wife.
