Brooke Shields claims she “fought” her 17-year-old daughter. Here’s why…

Brooke Shields was less than thrilled when her younger daughter expressed interest in establishing her own modeling career.

Shields, who has two children with husband Chris Henchy, Rowan Frances Henchy, 20, and Grier Hammond Henchy, 17, discussed Grier’s burgeoning runway modeling career on Thursday’s “Live With Kelly and Mark.” When Grier approached her about modeling after “doing little things here and there,” the “Blue Lagoon” star was scared.

Shields told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, “I fought it for so long.” «It’s such a different industry now than it was when I was a model,» she remarked, noting that social media didn’t exist when she was a model.

Grier wants to be a runway model, according to Shields. «That’s horrible, and backstage is simply brutal,» she remarked. «I’ve never done runway before. «I’m not sure I could have handled it.»

Shields stated that she finally learned Grier was “really passionate” about modeling and consented to allow her daughter to model – with some conditions.

«I had to ultimately cave and declare that if you’re going to do this, I’m not going to be your manager.» Shields explained, “You’ll be working for an agency.” «You’re going to have an incredible work ethic.» It won’t be easy, but you’re going to take my advice. That is my guideline. You’re also attending college.»

Shields claimed that having her mother Teri as a manager was “probably how I survived,” since they were “glued at the hip” and Teri was “such a mama bear” who wouldn’t let anyone get too near to Shields.
