Parents were punished when a video of their child ‘running wild’ during an eight-hour flight went viral.

On an eight-hour ride, the internet is divided among parents who allow their children to disrupt other passengers.

A young toddler can be seen bouncing up and down on a tray table, shaking the seat in front of her while the man seated there jumps around in a video posted to the «Public Freakout» Reddit thread.

According to the person who uploaded the video, the tape rapidly went viral, with many people criticizing the parents for allowing their child to “run wild” throughout the eight-hour ride. It has received nearly 20,000 upvotes and over 1,000 comments since its initial posting.

It’s unclear where the family is from or what airline they were on, but Reddit users speculated that the toddler was from the United States. The video sparked a debate about how the parents and the troubled man should have handled the bouncing child.

Insider’s Michele Theil reported in October that a mother was praised for how she asked a stranger to trade seats on a plane after filming the “win-win” transaction on TikTok.

«I’m hitting the recline button at the same time as the jump, hoping the extra few inches of force is enough to snap the tray table,» said another commenter.

Many chastised the unnamed man for not intervening in the nine-second video footage and instead «letting it happen.»
Plane etiquette has recently been hotly disputed, particularly when it comes to families traveling with little children. Insider’s Michele Theil reported in October that a mother was commended for how she requested a stranger to exchange seats on a plane after she taped the «win-win» transaction for TikTok.

According to the report, Anna Lyn Cook, the mother, gave another passenger a seat with greater legroom in return for his seat next to her family. Commenters were eager to point out that Cook approached her request «the right way.»

«I would never ask anyone to switch seats unless I could provide a better alternative.» I’d happily accept if they didn’t want to. Also, if we have the chance, we always pay extra to choose our seats,» Cook stated in the video’s caption.

According to the New York Post, another TikToker faced flak in October for refusing to relocate seats so that a family of three could sit together. Maresa Friedman advised families to prepare ahead if they wished to sit together in a video explaining her choice.

«I’m sorry, moms and families, but as a fellow mom, I’m not a villain for not giving up my seat,» she said in the post.
