A man without a home once spent the night at the airport. And now, many young men strive to follow in his footsteps…

The individual claimed that his problems began while he was still in school. I had no stable upbringing, and no parents nearby to provide for me.

I was miserable a lot of the time and didn’t pay attention in class. In addition, the school was fairly run-down and underfunded.

Lawrence’s class did not consider entering college because none of them would even finish high school.

I dropped out of school, abandoning my plans to become an aeronautical engineer. Because I couldn’t do this, I immediately began accepting freelancing projects to make at least some money.

The man’s apartment lease expired in 2012, leaving him homeless. Lawrence began “couchsurfing,” or spending the night on sofas with friends and acquaintances, because he couldn’t afford the new contract.

Over time, it became clear that he was becoming less and less wanted. The man was hired as an airport janitor, but the money was low and the hours were erratic.

I occasionally slept at the airport in order to be at work on time. When I could afford it, I stayed in a hostel; otherwise, I slept on the streets or in airports.

The conclusion was self-evident: working for a man while homeless is not an option. He lost his job and began to feel gloomy.

Lawrence then learned about Beam, a non-profit that trains and employs homeless individuals. In order to try his luck, the man decided to become one of the fund’s wards.

I raised 4449 pounds from 228 members of the public, allowing me to pursue my dream of becoming a railroad engineer.

The man now has more than simply a stable source of income.

My objective is still to become an aeronautical engineer, and this new step will help me get there.

The money provided for the individual allowed him to get the necessary qualifications, as well as a laptop, medical examinations, and a range of courses. He now has everything he needs to start the career he always wanted.

I wanted to get back on my feet mostly for the sake of my children. That’s why I’m at school right now: to find a job and better myself.

Since I started working for the railroad, things have started to alter. And I have an apartment that I rent.

Lawrence claims that Beam actually assisted him—and not just financially.

Sometimes all it takes to give you a boost is for someone to have faith in you.
