Honey Boo Boo, 17, and her boyfriend Dralin Carswell, 21, have made an important statement as the youngster prepares to relocate from Georgia to Colorado for college.
The ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot star revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she will attend Regis University in Denver in the fall to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse.
At the same time, she also revealed that she will be living off-campus for security reasons and that her boyfriend will be joining her.
“I think he’s more excited to move out there than me,” Honey Boo Boo, real name Alana Thompson, said of her boyfriend, with whom she has been in a relationship for over three years.
“Having spent his entire life in the same Georgia town, he’s eager to try something new,” she continued.
While traveling “halfway across the country” and living with Dralin for the first time makes Alana worried, she is excited about the future changes. “I honestly believe it will be beneficial to us. “I mean, I think it’ll be fun,” she added.
Regarding their future together, Alana added that they have talked about it but do not want to rush into marriage – with the reality TV star adding that she thinks Dralin is “the one,” but also admitting that life can be unpredictable.
“I can’t say [he’s the one] because I don’t know what life holds — any day now, anything can happen — but I mean, I hope,” she explained, adding that they still have a few things to “figure out in the long run.”
“I don’t want kids, but he wants kids,” she explained.
Alana’s half-sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, were both present throughout the interview to provide their complete support.
Lauryn, who has had sole custody of Alana since June 2022, stated, “You don’t truly know somebody until you move in with them,” while Mama June added, “I told her it’s either going to make or break her, and Dralin.”
The mother-of-four did, however, stress that Alana can always return home if she finds the relocation to another state too tough.
“All that matters to me is that Dralin treats Alana right, that he’s respectful, that my kids love him, and that his family is great — that’s all that matters to me,” Lauryn added.
Alana and Dralin made their romance Instagram official in September 2021, and despite criticism for their four-year age difference, they have defended their relationship.
Alana mentioned that they are happy together, and their families support their relationship, so the opinions of fans or critics don’t bother them.
Last May, Alana graduated from high school, and now she is eager to embark on this new chapter in her life at Regis University, accompanied by her boyfriend, as they look forward to all the adventures that lie ahead.
