While we frequently read doom and gloom stories concerning the coronavirus, which has a current global death rate of 2 to 4%, the media is not always quick to deliver stories of hope.

Individuals over the age of 60 with underlying health problems are the population most at risk, yet some of them are beating the odds. Geneva Wood, 90, a resident of the Life Care Center in Washington, is one of them.

Geneva Wood beat the new coronavirus thanks to her family’s support, her faith in God, and a nourishing potato soup. “I have beaten the coronavirus,” Wood claimed in an interview with Good Morning America. I have a lot to live for, and God has given me the courage to do so.”

Geneva Wood is the mother of five children, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Wood, a mother of five, is in the Life Care Center nursing facility recovering after a stroke.

The nursing facility was hit hard by the coronavirus and thirty-five patients died from the coronavirus. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 6th and was moved to a local hospital on March 11th.

Geneva Wood’s family gave her the biggest hug ever after she beat COVID-19. Roughly 3 weeks after being first diagnosed, Geneva Wood received the news she was waiting for from her doctors,

she had defeated COVID-19 and was on the mend. “They called, said we could come up and give her a hug,” Neidigh explained. “She gave me the most time.”

“This is the most difficult hug I’ve ever received in my life.” Geneva Wood is anticipated to heal at her daughter’s house before returning to the nursing home once the virus outbreak has been contained.
