A concerned school resource officer in Arkansas wanted to make sure a girl who had recently lost her father didn’t miss the father-daughter school dance, so he escorted her there. The beautiful surprise made the little girl happy!
Cpl. Nick Harvey, the Van Buren District primary school resource officer, decided to intervene when he realized that Avey Cox, a second-grader, would be unable to attend the daddy-daughter dance due to her father’s death. He and the other resource officers offered to drive any children who did not have fathers to the event. In his case, he went above and beyond for Avey, an eight-year-old!
Officer Harvey first approached the girl’s mother, who agreed. Furthermore, the little girl was happy since she wouldn’t have to miss the dance!
According to the officer, “I contacted the mom, and she indicated that was acceptable.” “Because the last thing I wanted was a second-grader to reject me.” So I discussed it with her mother, and the next day I asked her to be my date to the daddy-daughter dance.”
Harvey, a father of three children, drove his patrol car to bring up the second grader on the big day. He even dressed in the same attire as Avey. Despite the fact that he admits he isn’t a terrific dancer, he did his best to make the 8-year-old’s night unforgettable. That’s precisely what she did!
“I was excited because I had never gone before, and it would be my first time, and I had been hoping to go,” explained the young girl. “”It meant a lot to me since I got to see all of my friends there and then go with him and have a nice day.”
Harvey expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to support Avey and be present with her during this hardship!
On Facebook, he said, “I am very blessed to have been placed in a situation where I get to enjoy times like these.” “I had the incredible honor of accompanying Avey, this remarkable and beautiful little girl, to the Daddy-Daughter Dance.” For a multitude of reasons, I appreciate my job. However, for reasons such as these, my job is the best job for me.”
