After a lengthy period of estrangement, one can only imagine how a wife must have felt when she found that her husband had married another woman and raised a family. The spouse has married a different woman since they last saw each other 54 years ago. Unlike the wife who waited, they had a huge family with many children and grandchildren.

During the 1940s, many families were evacuated from a country at war. A married couple in a small, secluded highland town were promptly split apart after their wedding night. While her husband went at war, the wife promised to be patient. She swore that if she couldn’t wait, she would never marry again.

The couple’s love is constant and passionate at the time. As the expression goes, a strong love may light up the sun and the moon. Even a strong couple’s relationship can fall apart owing to an unforeseeable change of events. After a few days, the wife was forced to flee the escalating hostilities. Because of the spouse, the couple had lost contact.

The wife has been asking for updates on her husband for many years, but all she has heard is that he has either left the area or that he might have died in war. Even after years had gone by, the wife stuck to her vow to never remarry and never gave up looking for information about her husband.

Her relatives and friends would periodically persuade her to give up and remarry. She can yet meet a new husband and have a great and happy marriage. Even when others tried to persuade her otherwise, she remained true to her promise of honor.

In a moment, 54 years had passed. The young wife who waited for her husband has grown older and has gray hair. She would merely smile in response to questions from her family and friends asking if she regretted waiting for her spouse and delaying her remarriage up to that point. Finding a new husband isn’t as important to her as keeping her “word of honor.”

When the year 2020 dawned, fate intervened. Some of her husband’s family’s acquaintances ultimately informed the elderly widow about her husband. Unfortunately, her dreams were dashed when she finally met the (former) couple. Because they had been separated for 54 years and had no connection with one another, the elderly woman was unaware that her husband had remarried, had multiple children, and had many grandchildren.

Even though the husband was ashamed, the elderly woman greeted him without any hesitation. After being apart for so long, the ex-couple hugged and sobbed. The grandfather acknowledges that he felt guilty because his ex-wife waited for him for 54 years without getting remarried.

The old woman pounded on the grandfather’s chest while simultaneously crying out in despair and rage, “I have waited for you for 54 years! Why did you not approach me? Where have you been throughout this time? The grandfather sobbed as he hugged her and lost his words.

His house was in ruins when he arrived in their town after the war, and no one knew where his wife was. He continued as if his wife had died. He married a second woman and had a big family, including grandchildren, over the years. He changed his name before remarrying. During a fight, the majority of people are unable to read, and their names are changed to something arbitrary. At the time, there was no household registration. How was she supposed to find him amid the millions of people who had changed their names? The old woman waited in vain.
