A mother delivers her kid two weeks early for her dying husband.

A woman in Texas gave birth to her baby two weeks early so that her dying husband could meet and hold the child before he died.

Early Meet the Parents of a Two-Week-Old Baby

After eight months of chemotherapy, Mark Aulger, 52, found he was cancer-free. That Christmas, he and his six-member family rejoiced and anticipated the new year with glee, especially after finding that Diane, Mark’s wife, was expecting their fifth child. Everything looked to be going well at the moment, and Mark and the rest of the Aulger family thought they were in for a new beginning.

Unfortunately, Mark discovered on January 3 of the following year that the chemotherapy side effects had proven harmful to his lungs after racing to the hospital complaining of trouble breathing. His diagnosis was pulmonary fibrosis.

Mark got treatment as soon as possible, aiming to overcome this health problem after conquering cancer.

“We thought he could get on steroid treatment and oxygen and live for years,” Diane explained.

However, after a few weeks, physicians informed the family that the steroid therapy and oxygen could not keep Mark alive and that he only had one week to live.

That’s when the doctor asked Diane a question.

“When are you going to have this baby?” asked the doctor.

That’s when she decided almost on the spot to have the baby early so Mark and his youngest child could spend some time together.

On January 18, barely 15 days after Mark was admitted to the hospital for respiratory difficulties, physicians induced labor, and she gave birth two weeks early, in the same hospital room as her dying husband.

Savannah was named, and Mark was able to hold his child.

“The day she was born, his oxygen levels were really high,” Diane recalled of her dying husband. “He clutched her for 45 minutes.” “All he and I did was cry the entire time.”
