Choosing a bridal gown is one of the most important decisions that women make when they get married. Whether you’re planning a large or small wedding, the dress is a crucial aspect of the event. The going away or send-off dresses have traditionally been the second most essential aspect of the bridal wardrobe. This would have been a skirt suit for many women in the 1940s and 1960s!
The clothes the new bride wore on her honeymoon were generally elegant, but because they were not seen by friends and family, there was less attention on them. One woman is lucky enough to inherit her grandma’s honeymoon clothing since her grandmother was savvy enough to keep them all in a special bag for future generations. The granddaughter is now photographing this extremely unusual clothing on social media.

Maddy Bill’s grandma kept the clothes she wore on her honeymoon in May 1952 in a green hard-case valise. She’s digging through her bag, putting on everything from a mint green pinafore nightgown to a satin shirt with matching fake jewelry. Bill is from Pennsylvania, and Marie D’Alessandro Donato and her husband Anthony spent their honeymoon in New York City before meeting her grandfather Bill.
Bill told Good Morning America that her grandmother had the garments professionally cleaned before storing them and that they are still in excellent shape, with certain elastic things remaining “springy.” Because this collection hasn’t been worn, it’s possible that cleaning, followed by a lack of wear, has preserved it in good condition.

Her grandmother’s clothes seem to be tailor-made for her, which is amazing. On their trip, she even found her grandfather’s red and white striped, knitted tie. As of this writing, there have been more than a dozen of these videos posted online. For one thing, it’s rare to find a time capsule like this in one’s own family. Her grandmother, on the other hand, is still alive and well. Forever timeless and classy are the words Bill uses to describe her grandmother’s style in a TikTok video.
