Having a baby is both exciting and stressful; however, having twins is one of the most exhilarating experiences a person can have! It brings with it its own set of challenges and, at times, serious repercussions for mom or baby. Giving birth is difficult on the body; one mother received the shock of her life when it came time to give birth; even the doctors were taken aback!!!

It is estimated that 10-15% of pregnancies begin with twins but end with only one child. The “vanishing twin” phenomenon is well-known, but many mothers are ignorant of it. A mother of twins is more likely to require extra care and supervision, and many things can go wrong. Sara Thistlewaite, an Ohio math teacher, decided it was time for her and her husband to start a family.

They were excited awaiting the arrival of their tiny children, identical twins, and they had a lot of questions! They were a unique pair of twins: they were identical but monoamniotic twins, which means they shared the same anionic sac within the mother’s womb. They had a 1 in 10,000 chance of having children like this, so they knew they were special straight away!

They weren’t expecting a birth as memorable as the pregnancy! Sarah had been in the hospital for about two months due to her unusual pregnancy, and because everyone was interested in the unusual pregnancy, she began to feel as if she were under a microscope. But she had no idea how bad things were about to go… Sarah was supposed to have a C-section from the outset because the infants were completely together and so near to one another.

The doctors assured them that it was a routine surgery and that everything would be OK. The Doctors, on the other hand, gaped in bewilderment; it was obvious that what they were witnessing was strange… Sara was looking at a screen that displayed what was happening and what the doctors were doing. She simply desired to hear her baby scream because it would indicate normal breathing and a healthy delivery. When the children were taken from her womb, she just heard shock sounds.

Because the doctors were unable to separate the infants and extract them individually, they extracted them all at once, entangled. They weren’t sure if the babies were okay at first, but as they got closer, they realized what was going on, and the room became quiet… Her heart was pounding, she was impatient, and she demanded to see her children immediately away!

It was obvious from what they saw that the two already had a special relationship. The two children were born holding hands!! When the physicians and nurses realized what was going on, they all shared a really significant moment. Everyone began to cry with joy and excitement since this was indeed a one-in-a-million baby delivery!! Fortunately, someone was present to picture the infants and document the event forever in a photograph; everyone was curious.

Everyone was moved by how amazing it was. Nobody could get enough of the tale of the couple and their kids, how it occurred, and the moments before and after the delivery, and of course the wonderful picture of the infants holding hands! To say the least, the delivery and the whole pregnancy were terrifying, yet both twins were born healthy and with all of their fingers and toes.

From the outset, it is clear that they have a particular affinity. Julian and Jenna were the names given to the infants. The girls like doing everything together, including wearing similar outfits, and the couple finds it difficult to separate them.
