It appears that Dolly Parton continues to expand her impressive list of accomplishments, with her latest being a host at the Pet Gala. Recently, the country singer revealed an upcoming event with her celebrity friends, music, and plenty of cute dogs. Not only was that incredible, but there was also a dog fashion show! Starting the event, Parton performed a song that was just right: Puppy Love.
Dolly Parton has an extensive collection of songs, but this particular one is especially dear to her heart. This is the very first single she ever recorded, and she was just 13 years old at the time! Parton later included it in her debut album. It was the first song of hers that played on the radio.
She fondly recalls the moment she first heard herself on the radio, as detailed in her 2020 book, Songteller. “I about killed myself — I was sitting up on the counter, and the radio was on — I jumped off the counter and slid and fell trying to get to the radio to turn it up.”
This song delves into the theme of young love and served as a perfect introduction to the Pet Gala. Dolly Parton looked fabulous in a vibrant red ensemble adorned with cute dog paw prints, adding to the already fantastic beginning of the show. Viewers watching from home quickly flocked to social media to praise the unforgettable performance.
Shortly after, Parton thrilled fans even further with an unexpected treat. Guess what? She just re-recorded Puppy Love, and you can stream it immediately! The most recent release is named Puppy Love (Billy Version), a tribute to her French bulldog of the same name.
Dolly Parton always keeps us guessing, and we can’t get enough of it!
