Living alone as an elderly person can be quite daunting, as criminals often see you as an easy target.

Prepare to be shocked by this chilling story of a thief who severely underestimated the resilience of a 79-year-old grandmother, only to face the consequences of his ill-advised actions.

Gwendolyn Agard, a 79-year-old from Jackson County, had an unforgettable encounter with a bugler who made the mistake of breaking into her home while holding a mullet.

In the face of the break-in, the old woman’s fear was quickly replaced by a fierce determination to confront the intruder head-on.

Gwendolyn, who keeps .38 and .45 caliber pistols in her home for situations like this, understood that she had to protect herself from the intruder.

From the moment the intruder set foot in her home, Gwendolyn wasted no time in issuing a stern warning, making it clear that any attempt to break in would have dire consequences. However, that didn’t deter him from barging in.

The 79-year-old made the decision to fire a warning shot using a .38 revolver, but unfortunately, it proved ineffective in deterring him. As the intruder stealthily made their way into her residence, they quickly ascended the stairs with the intention of searching through her personal possessions.

Gwendolyn couldn’t help but notice that the intruder was completely unclothed. The grandma remembered, «He wasn’t wearing any pants — he was completely naked!»

Upon realizing that the intruder had successfully gained entry, she promptly made the decision to contact the authorities. “Please hurry…Lord have mercy,» she exclaimed, all the while getting herself  ready to use her revolver.

As the burglar made his way down the stairs, Gwendolyn quickly fired her gun at him. The message came across crystal clear this time. She remembers him telling her, “Are you trying to kill me?” She responded with a hint of sarcasm, saying, «Oh, you finally got the message!»

Feeling a rush of panic, the intruder quickly made his way back upstairs, seeking refuge in a nearby closet. Fortunately, the authorities arrived just in the nick of time and captured the intruder who was in completely naked. “I don’t know what his intention was, but I know what mine was,” Gwendolyn said told 11Alive.

When questioned about her unwavering courage and the driving force behind her determination to fight back, she replied, «I simply couldn’t bear the thought of leaving my children behind. And, I just got this burst of energy.”

Thanks to her bold and courageous attitude, Gwendolyn will now be able to savor a fulfilling life surrounded by her family and loved ones.
