Wife Shares Heartbreaking Message After Husband Feared Dead from Bridge Collapse

Recovery operations in Maryland were back in action on Wednesday (March 27) as the search continued for the six individuals believed to have perished in the devastating collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Early Tuesday, a massive vessel collided with the bridge, resulting in sections of it collapsing into the Patapsco River. According to CNN, six construction workers from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador were reported missing.

Unfortunately, the US Coast Guard has announced that it has reached the heartbreaking conclusion that the men have passed away, leading them to make the difficult decision to suspend their extensive search and rescue operation.

Miguel Luna, a 49-year-old husband and father of three, had made Maryland his home for almost two decades. According to the BBC, Luna was one of the crew members involved in the bridge repair work when the collapse happened.

Miguel Luna’s wife, María del Carmen Castellón, shared her deep sorrow while the family anxiously awaited updates during the ongoing recovery efforts.

«They simply inform us that we must be patient, as they are currently unable to provide any updates. We are absolutely devastated, our hearts are shattered, and the uncertainty of whether they have been rescued is overwhelming. We’re eagerly awaiting any updates,» Maria expressed in an interview with Telemundo 44.

Another individual, Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval, 38, has been identified as one of the missing workers. Maynor, originally from Honduras, was a devoted family man with a loving wife and two children — an 18-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. According to his brother Martin Suazo, he had been living in the US for approximately eighteen years.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a collapse occurred while six workers, including Maynor, were busy with their pothole repair activities on the bridge. They worked for Brawner Builders, a local contractor that specializes in bridge maintenance contracts in Maryland.

Jeffrey Pritzker, a senior executive at Brawner Builders, was taken aback by the unexpected incident, highlighting the company’s unwavering dedication to safety.

«I never saw this coming,» Jeffrey commented. «We’re at a loss for words. Ensuring safety is of utmost importance to us. We have a comprehensive range of safety measures in place, including cones, signs, lights, barriers, and flaggers. However, it was completely unexpected that the bridge would collapse.»

Our hearts go out to the families who are enduring the pain of losing their loved ones, and we offer our sincerest condolences.
