Shiloh Jolie-Pitt recently turned 18 and apparently had an interesting birthday celebration in mind, involving a visit to the courthouse. According to TMZ, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter recently submitted a legal request to change her name. Given that Shiloh wasted no time in filing this request on the earliest possible day, it seems clear that she has been eagerly anticipating this significant change.
Her decision to change her last name speaks volumes. According to reports, Shiloh has requested to remove «Pitt» from her hyphenated surname and now wishes to be known as Shiloh Jolie. It appears that Shiloh is trying to create some space between herself and her father following his highly publicized divorce from her mother in 2016. There have been ongoing rumors for years about the strained relationship between Brad and his eldest son Maddox, which reportedly led to the split. As a result, speculation has surrounded the couple’s six children and their relationship with Brad.
It seems that Shiloh is not the only one in the Jolie-Pitt family who wants to change their surname. There were reports circulating a few years ago that Maddox expressed a desire to remove «Pitt» from his last name. In 2023, during her sorority induction ceremony, Zahara Marley Jolie (without Pitt) made a notable introduction, leaving a lasting impression. In the days leading up to Shiloh’s legal plea, her younger sister Vivienne made an appearance in a musical she produced, being listed as «Vivienne Jolie» in the playbill.
During the mid-2000s, Brad and Angelina began their relationship. Around that time, Angelina had just adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005. In 2006, Brad made the decision to adopt two children, and together with Angelina, they legally changed their last names to Jolie-Pitt. In the following year, Shiloh came into the world, and then Pax was adopted from Vietnam in 2007. Angelina also gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne in 2008.
It seems that Shiloh’s name change request hasn’t been approved yet, but it appears that she won’t be the only Jolie-Pitt to make such a request in the future.
