Year after year, Hollywood produces out a multitude of fresh television shows. With the rise of streaming platforms, the number of new programs available has skyrocketed. Nevertheless, not all TV shows manage to win over the critics, audiences, or both. Most TV shows are long forgotten and end up on old store shelves, never to be seen or heard of again.
However, a rare few manage to truly resonate with audiences and continue to captivate long after their time on television has come to an end. Shows like The Brady Bunch, Three’s Company, The Carol Burnett Show, and Gilligan’s Island hold a special place in the hearts of many.
Little House on The Prairie is another program that fits in with the shows mentioned above. Although it had a relatively short run of nine years, from the mid-70s to the early 80s, the show has become a beloved classic that has captured the hearts of multiple generations. It’s not uncommon to stumble upon a Little House on The Prairie episode while channel surfing.
In a video shared on YouTube, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, and Alison Arnigrim discuss their experiences working on Little House on The Prairie and the significance the show holds for them.
Karen provided insights into why she believes the show has maintained its popularity and continues to resonate with audiences even decades after its conclusion.
“People are discovering the values, comfort, and messages they have been longing for,” she stated. “And I believe, you know, it’s just a matter of basic human decency.”
The women also discussed their experiences working with the late Michael Landon during the interview. Melissa expressed that she was not treated like a child, but rather as an equal, as an actor.
They reunited Melissa, Karen, and Alison, and did an interview, while celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary.
